Giving What We Can Fundraising Page

This Giving Season, High Impact Engineers (HI-Eng) are excited to invite you to donate to highly effective charities that focus on reducing suffering and increasing wellbeing for humans and animals both now and in the long-term future.

It was difficult to narrow it down to only a handful of charities, so we’ve selected three charities whose missions either directly or indirectly support the work of impact-oriented engineers. We’re excited to help raise funds for:

  • Good Food Institute

  • Clean Air Task Force

  • Effective Altruism Infrastructure Fund**

**High Impact Engineers receives funding from the Effective Altruism Infrastructure Fund. You can adjust the amount you give to each fund on the donation page.

If you donate to this fundraiser, please reach out and let us know so we can thank you personally.

Good Food Institute

The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a nonprofit working to improve the global food system by developing and promoting plant- and cell-based alternatives to animal products.

With plant-based meat, cultivated meat, and fermentation, we can mitigate the environmental impact of our food system, decrease the risk of zoonotic disease, and ultimately feed more people with fewer resources.

We chose GFI because of their incredible support for engineers and scientists working in the alternative protein industry, and the work they’ve done to build a world where alternative proteins are no longer alternative.

Clean Air Task Force

The Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is an international nonprofit that promotes technical and policy change for the climate. CATF builds momentum for solutions based on scientific evidence, intellectual integrity, and pragmatism, and believes all promising options should be explored to prevent catastrophic climate change.

We chose CATF because of their dedication to finding and promoting the most cost-effective, financially, socially and environmentally sustainable technical solutions to decarbonise the world’s energy system in a short amount of time. This often includes directing resources and investment to innovative and high-impact solutions that are less sensational, and the engineers and scientists behind them.

Effective Altruism Infrastructure Fund**

**High Impact Engineers receives funding from the Effective Altruism Infrastructure Fund.

The Effective Altruism Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) is one of EA Funds’ programs that aims to increase the impact of projects that use the principles of effective altruism (specifically by using reason and evidence to do as much good as possible) by increasing their access to talent, capital, and knowledge. This fund aims to multiply the impact of direct work in other cause areas.

We chose this fund not only because we receive funding from the EAIF, but also because they support many other organisations (such as 80,000 Hours, Founders Pledge, Charity Entrepreneurship, etc.) that aim to increase the impact people can have across the globe.

Thank You

If you’re interested in other causes, Giving What We Can has a list of the best charities to donate to in those areas. We hope you join us in maximising the impact of your donations this giving season - a little can go a long way.

We would love to hear if you donate to this fundraiser, so please do reach out and let us know so we can thank you personally!

Happy Giving Season,

Jessica Wen, Sean Lawrence and the HI-Eng Team.
